In 2019, NZSEE in conjunction with project partners released the Guidelines for the Design of Seismic Isolation Systems for Buildings as a draft for trial use. Having been applied in this form for about five years, NZSEE is seeking feedback on the document, and scoping any updates required to finalise it (with a view to then completing this work subject to securing funding). Feedback from those within the industry that are familiar with the use and application of the Guideline will be important in finalising the document.
Additionally, NZSEE is seeking feedback on the (Draft) Interim Advice for Seismic Isolation Design using TS 1170.5 or the SESOC Design Guide for NLRHA. This interim advisory includes information to support designers to apply the more contemporary ground motion selection and scaling approaches in the SESOC Design Guide for NLRHA
Feedback on both documents can be sent via email to exec@NZSEE.org.nz (please use the subject “NZSEE Seismic Isolation Guideline Feedback”). Please submit feedback using the Excel ballot form below. The Excel ballot form contains two worksheets – one for the 2019 Seismic Isolation Guideline, and one for the 2025 (Draft) Interim Advice (please keep feedback separate). When providing feedback it is important that you clearly identify the section of the Guideline (or Interim Advice) that your feedback applies to. If you believe there are sections of the Guideline (or Interim Advice) that could be improved, please provide details of your proposed change(s), or the issue you feel needs to be addressed. Where possible, for each proposed change, provide specific text you would like to be added, removed or altered, along with justification for the proposed change.
The feedback period will run for 30 – days, ending on 2 – April 2025.
