Membership Categories

  • Ordinary Membership: Open to professional engineers, scientists, and others interested in earthquake phenomena and their impacts.
    Fee: NZ$140 +GST | Overseas: NZ$140
  • Young Professional Membership: For engineers, scientists, and other professionals under 30 with an interest in earthquake phenomena and their effects.
    Fee: NZ$70 +GST | Overseas: NZ$70
  • Student Membership: For individuals enrolled in a tertiary institution who have an interest in earthquake phenomena and their effects.
    (Student members are not eligible for a hard copy of the Bulletin)
    Fee: NZ$0 | Overseas: NZ$70
  • Corporate Membership: Available to organisations committed to advancing the science and practice of earthquake engineering.
    Corporate members designate one individual as the corporate contact, who will receive access to all membership benefits
    Fee: NZ$250 +GST | Overseas: NZ$250
  • Life Membership: Awarded by the Management Committee to individuals who have made an extraordinary contribution to earthquake engineering in New Zealand or internationally. Life Members receive all the rights and privileges of full membership, including voting rights, and are exempt from membership fees and the base registration fee for the Society’s Annual Conference.

Overseas members enjoy the same rights and privileges as ordinary, student, young professional, and corporate members, but do not receive a hard copy of the quarterly bulletin. A hard copy can be included for an additional fee of NZ$150 per year. Overseas members do not pay New Zealand GST.

Membership Information

  • Membership admission is subject to approval by the Management Committee.
  • The membership year runs from 1 October to 30 September.
  • Ordinary, Life and Young Professional members can choose to receive the Bulletin in both hard copy and online or online only.
  • Student and Overseas memberships do not include a hard copy of the Bulletin. This can be added for an additional cost of NZ$150 per year.
  • Life members do not pay base conference fees.
